"Digital Threats to Democracy: Comparative Lessons and Possible Remedies" was a two-day research workshop that brought together both emerging and senior scholars to present comparative research on the impact of digital media on democratic processes and institutions, including topics such as dis- and misinformation, propaganda, and political polarization. The workshop was held June 13-14 at the Social Science Research Council in Brooklyn, New York. The workshop was organized in partnership with the International Journal of Press/Politics. 2019 Democratic Erosion Conference

To mark the conclusion of the second year of Democratic Erosion, a student conference will be held at American University on August 28, 2019. Democratic Erosion is a cross-institutional collaborative course that aims to help students critically and systematically evaluate the risks to democracy both in the US and abroad through the lens of theory, history, and social science. Congolese Research Network on Peace and Security (ResCongo) – Annual Conference 2019

ResCongo held its second annual conference from 9-10 October 2019, in collaboration with the SSRC’s Understanding Violent Conflict (UVC) program, the University of Kinshasa (UNIKIN), Institut Supérieur Pédagogique de Bukavu (ISP-Bukavu), and the Conflict Research Group (CRG) at Ghent University, at Hôtel Beau Lieu in Bukavu.
